What is Courier insurance?
Courier insurance is for individuals or companies who deliver goods for hire and reward. This means couriers will receive money from third parties to deliver goods on their behalf. Courier drivers do not have to have specific contracts they may advertise for multi-drop deliveries. Courier van drivers will normally operate a vehicle no more than 3.5 gross vehicle weight. Above this weight usually moves into haulage insurance.
What types of vehicle can we offer courier insurance for?
We offer courier insurance for vans, cars and motorcycles for carriage of goods for hire and reward.
Will my courier insurance be expensive if I have not had a full UK driving licence for long or if I do not have any courier no claim bonus?
Here at XYZ Insurance we have specialist schemes available for courier drivers with no courier no claim bonus. If you have no claim bonus on a private car we will take this into account and apply a discount allowing us to offer you a competitive quotation.
We also have heavily discounted schemes available for courier drivers who have been driving on a company insurance or on somebody else's policy and can obtain proof of this.
As a young company ourselves we are aware that everybody has to start somewhere and have very competitive schemes for all types of courier insurance.
What is courier insurance and how is it different to Private Car Insurance?
Here in the UK, it is a legal requirement to hold a minimum level of insurance to use your vehicle on a public highway. This type of insurance is commonly referred to as private car insurance. Courier insurance refers to delivering goods for reward. Ie, your services are hired hence the term hire and reward. Couriers will use their van, car or motorcycle to carry goods for hire and reward use so you will have to purchase specialist courier insurance - courier insurance will sometimes be referred to by the following terms: courier van insurance, light haulage van insurance, hire and reward courier insurance.
Can I transfer my private car no claims bonus onto my courier policy?
Yes - We have a panel of courier insurers who offer generous discounts for private car no claims bonus. Some of our insurers will mirror car no claims bonus where others will offer introductory discounts.
Can I get European cover abroad for my courier van insurance?
Yes - We have courier insurance policies which allow travel within EU member countries for up to 90 days in any one year for both pleasure and business use.
What cover do I have to have?
The choice of cover is yours; we will be able to offer you: Full Comprehensive, Third Party Fire and Theft or Third Party Only
Are there any add ons or extras that may be beneficial for my courier insurance?
XYZ Insurance understands that your van, car or bike is your livelihood and without it you simply cannot work. We therefore will supply you with a courtesy vehicle so you can continue working in the event of a non fault claim. We can also supply breakdown, goods in transit cover and public liability Insurance at very competitive premiums. Ask an advisor for more information.
Can I add my partner wife/husband to the policy for social use?
Yes. It is absolutely no problem for us.
Can I have more than one driver to my courier insurance?
Yes. You can have up to four named drivers or we can also offer any driver policies although this may increase the amount you pay for your insurance.
